Benton

Formed in 2019, Benton is a Charlotte based new wave-synth-pop project headed by Jonathan Hussey, who is stepping out from his usual spot behind the drum kit (for bands like Fortune Teller, Siege Hardee, BASSH). Crafting vibey dance songs that anyone into Talking Heads, New Order, and War On Drugs would be stoked on, Jon puts it simply “I just like synths and drums and I want everyone to hear them.”

“Benton brings an intriguing indie pop scope of influence into the retro pop space with their gorgeous new single Regret. We hear an influence of Bon Iver or Francis and the Lights blended with a synthwave sonic sensibility. It’s most evident in the retro style beat and production details. It absolutely works and doesn’t subscribe implicitly to either stylistic subset completely. Regret has a broad scope of interest that could attack indie and retro pop fans equally.
